Growing up the oldest of five children, I’ve always been a teacher in one capacity or another. It started as teaching piano lessons to my younger siblings, then evolved to leading a youth choir in high school, and finally assistant teaching physics courses in college. While I took a slight detour after college to pursue materials science research, it turned out I couldn’t be away from teaching for too long and I pursued a tutoring position soon after. With a degree in Physics, I saw tutoring as a perfect way to combine my strong math and science skills with my love for teaching. For the past 12 years, I have helped hundreds of students raise their grades and test scores and achieve acceptances into their dream colleges. I understand firsthand the frustration and overwhelm that school brings, and I’m passionate about providing the tools and support necessary so students can achieve their goals.
I believe in creating a culture that promotes getting it right over being right, and encourages students to drive their own learning as much as possible. I would describe my teaching style in 3 words: dedicated, focused, and enthusiastic. I am dedicated to each student, listening to their unique struggles and pinpointing what they need help with. I am focused: using our time together as efficiently as I can. And lastly, I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to work with them and watch them realize their potential.
I have served students ages 6-12th from all backgrounds including advanced placement, general population, and those with special needs. In my free time, I enjoy singing with my siblings, advocating for LGBTQ rights, surfing, and trying new foods.
