I am one the most experienced and successful 1:1 educators working today. I have over 13,000 1:1 student hours across a wide range of specializations: admissions testing K-12 including ISEE, SSAT, HSPT, DSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP; admissions consultation for private elementary, middle, and high schools; college admissions; academic subjects across math, science, English, and history; executive function coaching; and lastly to program and curriculum development and teacher training.
My students’ results are the best in the business. What unites all of these practice areas is my obsession with excellent results in concert with meaningful growth and student well-being. Beyond short-term metrics, lies the need to establish skills and mindsets that unlock a lifetime of personal success and growth. 1:1 personalization is essential in all of this, as every student comes with unique a perspective and prior learnings. My extensive 1:1 teaching experience is the other key to success, as I understand the academic and learning landscape of today’s student in a way no other teacher can.
Before I was a professional educator, I tutored my classmates and learned from dedicated and caring teachers. After I completed teacher training (M.Ed.), I served as the head English teacher for 7th and 8th graders in a nationally recognized private school. I implemented a mastery learning model to the English classroom. I kept very high standards and worked obsessively to personalize my teaching to drive the greatest possible growth for every student.
As an early teacher, I saw then that 1:1 conferences had the greatest impact on student growth, yet the classroom format could not possibly allow for enough 1:1 time. I left the classroom and began my career as a private educator.
I help students build lasting confidence in themselves and their academic and cognitive abilities. I am an expert in academic strategies, cognitive strategies, executive function skills, and mindset coaching. Ultimately, learning is more than just what you know. It’s just as much about how you think and discovering learning and the joy of learning. So much of life is believing in yourself. If you lose that, it’s hard to regain it. Everyone learns somewhat differently, so I’m dedicated to with understanding how my students learn and how they respond to their environment and challenges.
As we enter an age of incredible potential in the art and science of teaching, I remain firm in my belief that 1:1 teaching holds the greatest potential for positive change in individuals and our world.
